WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man will spend between 5 and 10 years behind bars for selling drugs in Wilmington.
According to a release from the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office, Antoine Watkins, 40, of Wilmington, plead guilty on September 18 in New Hanover County Superior Court to one count of Sale of Heroin, one count of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, one count of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, and Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana.
Watkins was sentenced to a minimum of 70 months and a maximum term of 120 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.
Evidence shows that on October 26, 2016 Watkins sold ten bindles of heroin near 12th and Dock Streets to an informant working at the direction of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Shortly after, Watkins was stopped by law enforcement and found with money used to purchase the heroin as well as a plastic bag containing 19 additional bindles of heroin, 6.13 grams of cocaine, and 2.13 grams of marijuana. He also has a criminal history, including convictions for other felony drug sales, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping.
Narcotics detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
